If you don’t want to use harmful sprays on your plants to kill bugs, there is a better way. There are certain flowers and herbs that repel harmful insects. Planting just a few of them will also attract beneficial insects such as the praying mantis. I know this really works, because I planted basil and some other things in my container garden last year. My garden is on the second floor, yet I was out there at one o’clock in the morning and I happened to turn around and look at the wall of the apartment building. There was a huge praying mantis clinging to the wall, looking back at me. I had to do a double take to make sure that I wasn’t seeing things. He hung around for days.
Some of the best plants to use are Yarrow, Ammi, Golden Tuft, Dill, Cilantro, Cosmos, Buckwheat, Leaf Fennel, Hairy Vetch, Sweet Alyssum, Mizuna, German Chamomile, Basil, and Crimson Clover. You can buy them already mixed from several seed companies. The information appears below.
